Manchester High School for Girls is one of the leading independent girls' day schools in the country, providing an excellent educational experience for four to 18 year-olds. It is a selective, academic school and this summer’s public examination results at both Advanced and GCSE level were excellent, placing the School amongst the top schools nationally.

Founded in 1874, the school has made a pioneering contribution to the development of women’s education. All three of Mrs Pankhurst’s daughters were educated here. The school takes its inspiration from its traditions and continues to produce students who distinguish themselves in many professions, becoming role models of successful and influential women. The character of the school has also been shaped by its accessibility to girls from a wide variety of social, cultural and religious backgrounds so that a community has developed which both values individuality and promotes tolerance.

The school is a non-denominational, independent day school, which has charitable status. It is also a member of the Girls’ Schools Association and of the Association of Governing Bodies of Independent Schools.

  • Part-time Library Assistant - 16.25 Hours Per Week Term Time Plus INSET days

    We are seeking to appoint an assistant to support the work of the busy library in this leading independent school. Experience of working in a library, a school or with young people is essential. The successful candidate will have good basic ICT skills. The appointment is 16.25 hours per week, 10.45 a.m. - 2.30 p.m.  Monday to Friday with 30  minutes unpaid break, term time only plus INSET days.    The working  hours can be reasonably flexible to suit the right candidate. 

    The starting scale for the post is point 15 (15-19) with a salary scale £18,152-£19,649 p.a. equating to a part time actual starting salary of £6,280 p.a.

  • Biology Technician - Full time or Job share Term Time Plus INSET Days

     We are looking for a suitably qualified technician  to commence  1st September 2018 to support the Biology Department of this highly successful independent school. The post is 39 hours per week  term time + INSET training days.   Salary range £18.152 to £19,059  with a pro rata actual salary £15,066 p.a.   We  welcome  applicants who wish to work part time as job share  working arrangements will be considered for the right candidates.
