Manchester High School for Girls

Girls in Prep celebrated International Women’s Day by wearing suffragette purple for the day on 5th March. Even the Head Mistress wore purple for the day.

The girls learned about the School’s link to women such as the Pankhursts who fought for women’s right to vote. They also spent time thinking about inspirational women and many came to the conclusion that they looked up to their sisters, mothers and grandmothers.

Girls in Year 6 visited the Pankhurst Centre the following day and through various fun activities, discovered more about the suffragette movement. Everyone is already looking forward to next year’s celebrations!
