Manchester High School for Girls

HAIR TODAY, GONE TOMORROW

Brave teenager, 16-year-old Alessia,  has done what most of her peers would probably consider their worst nightmare and cut her long hair off for charity.

By doing so, the inspirational young lady has raised over £900 for the Little Princess Trust which provides professional, real hair wigs for children suffering hair loss. She has also donated her long locks to the charity.

Alessia explained: “My mother’s friend’s seven year old daughter has alopecia and wears wigs on a daily basis. I wanted to do something to help her and other children in similar circumstances. My mum cried a little when I told her I was about to cut all my hair off but I think they were just happy tears!”

She added: “Each professional wig costs £350 to make so I am glad my fundraising can provide at least two wigs. I don’t need my hair to feel like a girl so I was quite happy to go ahead with the drastic hair cut! It’s great to know that my hair will go to good use at the charity.”

Alessia is now a proud owner of a big woolly hat to keep her bare head warm. If you wish to support Alessia in her fundraising, you can do so online https://www.justgiving.com/alessia-amato/.
