Pupils from the Preparatory Department at Manchester High School for Girls have excelled themselves by raising £8,446.47 for a number of charities throughout the academic year. The girls were proud to celebrate their achievement on the last day of School.

Helping others and collaborating with pupils in different groups is an important part of the Prep Department ethos, and the girls actively take part in various fundraising activities held in each year.

The Head Mistress at Manchester High School for Girls, Mrs Claire Hewitt, said: “The girls have an admirable enthusiasm for helping others and the sum raised is a testament to that. National charities such as Cancer Research UK, Marie Curie, WWF and Children in Need and many others have benefited from the girls efforts throughout the year.

“Locally, we have worked closely with the Pankhurst Centre and homeless shelters to provide food and clothing to those in need. I am proud of our girls, and should like to thank them as well as their parents and teachers for their support with the work we do within the community.”
