Manchester High School for Girls

Manchester High School for Girls is thrilled to be supporting the northern film premiere of “Suffragette” – the inspirational story of the women’s suffrage movement and the Pankhurst sisters, who were Manchester High girls.

The premiere will take place on Friday 9th October, before going on general release at cinemas nationwide. All ticket proceeds will go to the Pankhurst Centre.

This promises to be a wonderful evening; honouring the suffragettes who won votes for women nearly 100 years ago, as well as celebrating the women who make Manchester great today.

There will be a drinks reception from 6pm, with the film screening at 7pm. After the film there will be a Q&A session featuring:

  • Dr Helen Pankhurst, great granddaughter of Emmeline Pankhurst
  • Stella Duffy, writer, theatre-maker and Women’s Equality Party campaigner
  • Mrs Helen Jeys, Deputy Head at Manchester High School for Girls

We anticipate that this will be a ‘sell-out’ evening, so please do book your seats now. Not only is this a great chance to see the film before anyone else but it is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the Pankhurst women who mean so much to the Manchester High community.
