UNDER-13S HOCKEY TEAM THIRD BEST IN NORTH OF ENGLAND

Manchester High’s Under-13s Hockey team have achieved the highest position in the School's hockey history by coming third in the North of England Schools Hockey Championships.
The nail-biting regional finals took place on 21st March at Leeds University.
They had a steady start winning Hymers College 1- 0 and drawing with Royal Grammar School Newcastle and Grange School. The team came runners up in the pool, and played Hill House School in the semi-final losing 0-1. The girls didn’t give up though, and fought right until the end winning their last match against Kirkham Grammar 2-0. Overall, the girls finished third which is a tremendous result for them.
Mrs Newman, Director of Sport at MHSG, said: “This is a phenomenal achievement by the team; they played extremely well and kept on pushing for a good result. Even though they lost in the semi-final they were determined to come third, never giving up.”
Miss Rowley, hockey coach and PE teacher, said: “We are two very proud coaches. This is the highest achievement by a MHSG team and they should be very pleased with their third place! This year has been very successful for school hockey, it is the first time we had two teams; Under-13s and Under-16s, in the North finals in one season. Congratulations to them all.”
The team consisted of:
Anna, Kizzy , Sasha , Hannah , Amelie , Abigail, Livia (Captain), Ella, Rosie and Charlie. Well done, girls!
