Manchester High School for Girls

Girls from Years 3 to 6 have braved all weathers this academic year to win a silver trophy in the Wilf Richards Memorial Primary School Cross Country League.

Two teams of runners beat fellow pupils from nearly 20 schools over a five race season. It was a double celebration for Caitlin in Year 6 who also achieved an individual bronze medal in the competition.

Mrs Nash said: “This year has been very successful for our cross country runners. The girls have done us all proud by showing great resilience; they have consistently got up early to represent the school and run at Wythenshawe Park - whatever the weather! They have endured wind, rain, frost and mud, but most of all they have had lots of fun.”

The girls’ commitment and determination was rewarded before the end of half term as the results were announced.

Mrs Nash added: “I would like to give a special mention to Caitlin, Milla and Pako from Year 6 who have shown incredible dedication to the cross country team over the last four years. A big thank you also to parents for their support and encouragement during the races.”
