Pupils from Manchester High School for Girls welcomed elderly people from local retirement homes to their annual Christmas lunch in School on Tuesday 13th December.

Annabel said: “We had a great time talking to our guests and finding out about their interests; it seems that a lot of them love Coronation Street and the Royal Variety Show! It was also nice to hear about their memories of when they were younger.”

Orla added: “We have had fun putting this event together and realised how much our guests appreciate it. Everyone needs a little bit of festive cheer at this time of year!”

Eveline Spooner (85) and Jean Needs (84) from Mayes Court retirement housing were enjoying their afternoon.

Eveline said: “We have had a wonderful time; the food was excellent and bingo is our favourite game. Thank you to everyone for this special treat!”

Colin and Dorothy from Souchay  Court in Didsbury are regular guests at the annual OAP Christmas lunch at Manchester High.
