INSIGHT INTO MAKEUP ARTISTRY CAREERS TALK
Former pupil and makeup artist to the stars, Cassie Lomas is returning to Manchester High on Monday 5th December as part of our 'Insight Into...' careers series.
With over 20 years of industry experience, makeup artist, Cassie, has made a name for herself working her magic on famous faces such as Lady Gaga, Rita Ora and Selena Gomez.
Cassie turned her freelance work into a lucrative business in 2010 when she opened the Cassie Lomas Makeup Academy. The Academy is purposefully based in Manchester’s Northern Quarter to enable budding talent to train in the North West rather than having to relocate to London.
Of the business move Cassie says: "Many people remark that you can tell an MHSG girl from her understanding of etiquette, her sense of what it is to work hard and her passion. The ethos of the School actually underpins the day to day workings of my academy. I'm quite strict and students know they're not here to mess about. We're teaching them to become skilled artists with a sense of how to operate a freelance business. It's not all the fluff and frivolity people assume. I liken our courses to a degree; they build careers and need to be taken seriously."
Cassie has previously been a brand ambassador for Bourjois cosmetics and is now working with national retailer, Superdrug on their own line, B. Next year will see Cassie’s own product line launched nationwide and she will also a London branch of the Cassie Lomas Makeup Academy.
During the evening Cassie will talk about how she has made a name for herself, built her brand and the skills she needs to run her own business. Cassie will also deliver a festive makeup workshop.
The talk is open to pupils and their parents in Years 10, 11 and the Sixth Form. 6pm - 7.30pm in the Zochonis Lecture Theatre.
We anticipate that this will be a very popular evening so seats must be reserved in advance. Please contact Lexi Taylor in the Development Team: firstname.lastname@example.org
