Manchester High School for Girls

GIRLS COOK UP A STORM

Eight Sixth Formers spent an evening at Food Sorcery in Didsbury recently to learn some top class cookery skills.

Their host, Jo, and the Head Chef, Jason, were welcoming from the first instant and invited the girls into their kitchen with smiles and the promise of freshly baked bread.

The Manchester High girls were joined by four other students from Altrincham Girls Grammar School and had a blast cooking alongside them.

Aleena explained: “The menu that evening consisted of prawn fritters, lamb meatballs, chicken skewers, Spanish tortillas, patatas bravas and, to top it all off, chocolate soufflé.

“Whilst cooking, we divided up into pairs and had a go at either chopping onions (and yes, there were tears) or handling raw chicken. Jason made the whole process seem so easy.”

Alessia added: “We were given brilliant tips along the way and may even recreate a few of the dishes at home. Though cooking the food was really fun, we worked up a massive appetite and all looked forward to the point where we got to sit down and enjoy the delicious tapas. We had a brilliant experience at Food Sorcery and we can’t wait to go and try out the recipes for ourselves!”
