Manchester High School for Girls

Over 130 former pupils returned to Manchester High School for Girls for the Annual and Decades reunion lunch on Saturday 17th September.

The school was bustling with Old Girls aged between 28 to 92 who had been eagerly anticipating to catch up with their old friends.

We were delighted to see year groups from every decade from 1956 to 2006; some ladies had travelled from as far as New Zealand and Amsterdam to be with us on the day!

The visitors enjoyed a delicious lunch followed by tours of the school by the Head Girl Team and the House Captains to see all of the fabulous new facilities including the new Sixth Form Centre.

Manchester High’s very own national treasure, Anthony the caretaker, toured the Class of 2006 which included his own daughter Lisa. For many this was the best part of their afternoon.

"Thank you so much for enabling me to join in the reunion event on Saturday which I thoroughly enjoyed, and felt I had gained many more memories to add to all my previous appreciation of my years at MHSG."

Jennifer Borer, nee Curtis (Class of 1956)

"Thank you for a fantastic day! So much fun catching up with people and one of the highlights was our tour of the school with commentary from Anthony."

Krystle Boss (Class of 2006)

"We all thoroughly enjoyed the day and it was certainly fascinating to see how much things had changed at MHSG as well as remembering some of the funnier and/or scarier episodes from the 1960's.Thank you too for the 'This is your life' programme, well worth a read at our leisure. What a variety of stories and personalities contained therein!

It had obviously taken a huge amount of preparation and organisation to make the day such a great success so thank you for all your hard work! Delicious lunch too, thanks to the catering team!"
