Sponsored swim for Emmeline's Pantry
Girls in the Preparatory Department have recently taken part in a sponsored swim to raise money for Emmeline’s Pantry, a charity supporting women in need throughout Greater Manchester.
The initiative, which was suggested by Ciara in Year 4, resulted in all the members of Mrs Sanderson’s swimming club taking part and seeking sponsorship for their efforts. They swam 1,194 lengths between them and raised £1,356.35 for Emmeline’s Pantry, which will go directly to supporting vulnerable young women across the region.
Mrs Edale, who has taken girls from the Prep to visit Emmeline’s Pantry during the past year, said: “I’m very proud of the girls for wanting to support this fantastic organisation. The Manchester High community has supported Emmeline’s with our Harvest donations and clothes collections for many years, but to be able to provide some funds feels fantastic. The charity have recently moved to new premises in Chorlton and I hope that this donation will help to ensure that they can help as many women as possible.”
Mrs Mortimer, Head of the Preparatory Department, said: “Our girls continue to amaze me and I’m delighted that they have chosen to support such a worthwhile cause. They are constantly looking for ways to help people less fortunate than themselves, which makes us all feel very proud.”
