Manchester High School for Girls

Flying High at Robinwood

Girls in Year 5 have recently returned from their three-day residential to Robinwood Recreational Centre at Maes-y-Nant in Wrexham.

This annual trip aims to give pupils the opportunity to build resilience and strengthen friendships outside of the classroom environment.

The residential stay saw girls canoeing, exploring caves, riding a zip-wire and balancing above the popular ‘piranha pool’. They all showed fantastic communications skills as they supported each other through the various tasks. Miss Diamond, who accompanied the girls on the trip, said: “I was very proud of how the girls conducted themselves throughout the residential. They had a fantastic time and made some memories that I’m sure will stay with them for a long time. I was particularly pleased at how they all supported each other through the more difficult challenges. It can be very difficult to step outside of your comfort zone, but their lasting friendships made it much easier.”

Ava, in 5SD, enjoyed builder stronger bonds with girls in the parallel class: “It was a great way to spend some time with my friends and I got to know the girls from 5JF a bit better. We all managed to try an activity that we’d never done before, which was scary at times, but having friends close by made it seem easier. It was the best time of my life and I wish we could go back and do it all over again.”
