Insight Into becoming a Chief Executive
On Tuesday 5th March, pupils and parents will be able to discover what it takes to reach the top of your field by the grand old age of 35.
John Ashcroft is the Chief Executive of Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and University Dental Hospital of Manchester. As part of our ‘Insight Into’ careers series, John will explain how someone with an English degree, who wanted to be a lollipop man, has ended up as one of the youngest chief executives in the history of the NHS.
Having completed the NHS Graduate Management Scheme, John has worked at Great Ormond Street, Sydney Children's Hospital, the Department of Health and as a management consultant. He will give an insight into his role, discuss some of the most important factors (and people!) that have shaped his career and share some of the learning from mistakes he has made along the way.
The talk will take place in the Zochonis Lecture Theatre in the MHSG Sixth Form Centre from 6pm to 7.30pm, and we would like to extend an invitation to your pupils in Year 9 and above as well as their parents; however we anticipate that this will be a very popular evening so your seats must be reserved in advance.
