Alumnae and parents take to Manchester for our annual Ladies Festive Lunch
Members of the Manchester High Community take to the city for Ladies Festive Lunch.
The winter weather did not deter over 80 parents, guardians and alumnae who joined us to mark the beginning of the festive season at our Ladies’ Lunch, held in the beautiful surroundings of the King Street Townhouse on Thursday 29th November.
Guests enjoyed a welcome glass of prosecco in a room with a view, overlooking the Town Hall and the rooftops of Manchester, before sitting down to a delicious two-course meal.
Our host for the occasion was former Manchester High pupil and Senior Partner at JMW Solicitors LLP, Joy Kingsley. Joy’s animated speech during dessert left us captivated and inspired as she took us through a whistle-stop tour of her career including how she surprised the market by taking a role with entrepreneurial law firm JMW in September 2010; playing a key part in the organisation’s phenomenal growth in revenue. Joy is proud that she achieved all of this after having already established a successful career.
Following the lunch, guests were invited to participate in a fabulous raffle, with a number of impressive prizes up for grabs including a champagne afternoon tea for two donated by King Street Townhouse, a £150 voucher for Kjole Didsbury, a £120 facial at Bright New Me and a fantastic Fortnum and Mason Christmas hamper. The raffle, alongside the sale of MHSG pin badges, raised an incredible £740 for the Pankhurst Bursary Appeal.
Former student and current parent, Katie Lucas, said:
“It was such a wonderful lunch, with delicious food and fabulous company with stunning views of our exceptional city! It was a great mix of old girls, current mums, a very inspirational speaker, two Heads and lots of familiar faces. It was so much fun and also a lovely opportunity for friends of the School to get together, catch up, be inspired and toast Manchester High's great health. Bring on next year's lunch! "
