Manchester High School for Girls

Guests from Manchester High School for Girls and the local school community gathered at the Zochonis Lecture Theatre last night to soak up top tips on the ins and outs of Public Relations (PR) during the first of this year’s many Insight Into career talks.

Students and their families listened to MHSG alumnae, PR Consultant Roz Hughes and PR expert and part-time lecturer Michelle Eagleton, talk about how PR covers a range of communication processes and plays a vital part in how we access news and information in day to day life.

The inspirational talk outlined the several routes you can take into this rewarding career and both Roz (Class of 1987) and Michelle (Class of 1994) captivated the audience with several stories about their career highlights. These ranged from house renovations with members of the Royal Family, to sending journalists to exotic locations, to counting strawberries on the BBC Wimbledon set, to promoting the fascinating Manchester Bee art installations.

Junior Sixth Form Student, Katherine Hellewell, said:

“I really enjoyed listening to Roz and Michelle talk about their experiences. Public Relations is a subject I knew very little about but it has inspired me to look into it more; particularly regarding work experience or University studies. I am now a huge fan of the Insight Into talks and think it’s fantastic that they are available to us. I intend to go to every talk over the next year! ”

If you’d like to be just as inspired as Katherine and the rest of last night’s audience then come along to our next event, Insight into Architecture on Tuesday 16th October at 6pm.

The talk is free to attend but due to the popularity of these events all we ask is that you RSVP by emailing Lex Robinson in the Development Team at
