FUN-PACKED AWAY DAY FOR JUNIOR SIXTH FORMERS
Junior Sixth Formers at Manchester High School for Girls were encouraged to embrace their inner ‘warrior’ during an away day on 14th September 2018.
The away day provided an opportunity for students to bond and get to know their tutors better. The day was fun packed, with a mix of group exercises, meditation and mindfulness sessions and an inspirational speech delivered by Manchester High Alumna, Annette Kurer from Ark Consultants.
Annette’s presentation, ‘From Worrier to Warrior’, highlighted how skills and experience can be transferrable and lead to a whole host of different careers during a person’s working life. Annette also coached the girls on how to deliver an effective presentation and helped them to understand how resilience can lead to happiness in all aspects of life.
The students had plenty of opportunities to interact and mingle with each other on the day and were even encouraged to leave positive comments for each other following a self-portrait art exercise which resulted in some very creative pictures!
Student Precious Limen attended the day and said:
“The Sixth Form away day was personally an amazing experience, particularly the talk from Annette Kurer about how to be confident and authoritative as a woman. This was especially beneficial since this year I aim to speak more often in order to conquer fear of public speaking. The practise of meditation in the session is one I still use before I go to bed and to bring me peace in a busy day. I’d like to thank my teachers for planning this great session.”
The School is holding a Sixth Form open evening on the 26th September 2018 from 5pm, so to book a place please email firstname.lastname@example.org or for more information visit www.manchesterhigh.co.uk/open-events.
