Emma Barnett, MHSG Class of 2003

An award-winning broadcaster and journalist, Emma is set to take over the morning show on BBC 5Live (10am-1pm, Wednesday to Friday) from September and continues to regularly present BBC Woman’s Hour (where she became the youngest host in the programme’s 70-year history). She writes a weekly advice column called ‘Tough Love’ in the Sunday Times Magazine and is the co-host of a weekly political debate programme called The Pledge, on Sky News.

Previously the Women’s Editor of The Telegraph, she created and launched the newspaper’s popular women’s channel, covering politics, business, health, life and love.

As the theme of the evening will be ‘ambition’ we couldn’t think of anyone better to welcome to the stage on 10th October than Emma. You can watch her TED Talk on the subject here.

Emma has also written an article reflecting on her time at MHSG for the next edition of High Flyer which will be available to download from this website on Tuesday 13th September.

If you are a former pupil and would like tickets for the Celebration and Awards Evening, please contact Lexi Taylor in the Development Team: or 0161 224 0447.

Ticketing arrangements for parents and guardians will be released early in the Autumn Term.
