Manchester High School for Girls

It was a double celebration for Manchester High’s budding entrepreneurs as they brought back two top trophies from the recent Greater Manchester Young Enterprise competition held at Manchester Metropolitan University.

The two teams, Artemis and Cupcake, were crowned overall winners and runners up respectively and the girls will now represent the region at the North West final in Liverpool on 9th May.

Mrs Chisnall was full of praise of the girls, and commented: “Artemis, who were also awarded the Best Trade Stand prize, produce innovative, high quality make-up bags which they have designed themselves using the goddess of hunting as their inspiration. The girls have shown great determination and resilience throughout the competition.

“Cupcake, producers of bespoke microwaveable mug cakes, have also done brilliantly. The girls will be keen to show their entrepreneurial flair at the North West final. I am hugely proud of both teams; they have worked very hard on their business concepts.”

Victoria from Junior Sixth is one of the Managing Directors of the Cupcake business. She said: “You really don’t know what team work is until you have been involved with the Young Enterprise competition. As an MD, I have learned a lot about business and people management; skills which I will taking with me for the rest of my life.”

Zara from Junior Sixth commented: "The whole Young Enterprise experience has been incredible. We have worked really well as a team and we can’t wait what the next stage of the competition will bring!”
