Manchester High School for Girls

2018 is a special year for Manchester High School for Girls and, on Saturday 30th June, we'll be hosting a unique, one-off event, "Suffragettes in the City" at Harvey Nichols, Manchester.

The event will celebrate two very special milestones in the history of MHSG.

In September we will welcome the 100th Pankhurst bursary pupil to our School since campaigning began back in 2010. This is an incredible achievement and we are very keen to thank the extended MHSG community who have always given so much support to the bursary fund.

2018 also marks the 100th anniversary of when women in this country won the right to vote.

As you will know, MHSG was the school that Emmeline Pankhurst, leader of the suffragette movement, chose for her three pioneering daughters and it is only fitting that we honour the achievements of the Pankhurst women and the suffragette movement.

The event promises to be a fabulous evening of dinner, dancing and entertainment and it has kindly been sponsored by headliners, JMW Law and Pareto Financial Planning, with support from Food Sorcery and Zeal Creative

The evening includes:

  • Entrance to the super stylish venue via the purple carpet
  • Welcome cocktails with suffragettes in full costume
  • A three-course meal, created exclusively by Harvey Nichols' chefs
  • Cabaret entertainment from MHSG students of Music and Drama
  • DJ set into the early hours from Harvey Nichols' resident DJ
  • Raffle with luxury prizes up for grabs

We'll be asking guests to channel our suffragette sisters by wearing shades of purple, green and white. There will also be a suffragette themed auction in support of the bursary fund, with some truly rare lots that will appeal to any proud Mancunian!
