Manchester High School for Girls

BIG TURN OUT FOR THE BBC

We welcomed over 60 guests from Manchester High School for Girls and the local school community to the Zochonis Lecture Theatre last night to hear all about BBC apprenticeship opportunities.

Minds were whirring as Naomi Blackbourn from the BBC’s Schemes and Assessments Team told us the ins and outs of what’s on offer at this national institution, and the processes involved in applying for Journalism, Production and Business Management apprenticeships.

Alice McMahon and Naomi Blackbourn

After hearing about the routes you can take,  MHSG class of 2017 alumna Alice McMahon regaled us with a full picture of her experience in applying for and eventually gaining her place on the highly competitive BBC’s Media Production apprenticeship.

Year 10 student, Beatrice De Goede said;

“I really enjoyed this talk and I think it really helped me to see what else is out there for me to do, there are so many options!”

If you’d like to be just as inspired as Beatrice and the rest of last night’s audience then come along to our next event, Insight into Scientific Careers on Thursday 18th January at 6pm.

The talk is free to attend but due to the popularity of these  events all we ask is that you RSVP by emailing Lex Taylor in the Development Team at Ltaylor@mhsg.manchester.sch.uk
