INSIGHT INTO SCIENTIFIC CAREERS
Thursday 18th January sees the next instalment of our "Insight Into..." series at Manchester High School for Girls. If you find yourself interested in the Sciences but aren’t an aspiring medic or engineer, then kick off the New Year discovering how to pursue an alternative scientific career.
Two members of the MHSG alumnae community, Rada Ramsay and Dr Sarah Clapham, will be returning to School to talk about their own experiences and share their expertise.
Graduating with a master’s degree in Chemistry from The University of Edinburgh, Rada Ramsay joined the renowned international consumer goods company, Unilever, as a Formulation Scientist in 2000. Rada went on to develop her career within the company and has spent the last three years as a consumer scientist working on household names such as Dove, Lynx and TRESemme.
When fellow class of 1996 alumna Dr Sarah Clapham graduated from University of Salford, she did so with a master’s degree and a PhD in Chemistry under her belt. Sarah went on to become an arms control and non-proliferation technical advisor at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), part of the UK Ministry of Defence, based at Porton Down.
The talk will take place in the Zochonis Lecture Theatre from 6pm to 7.30pm. It is open to all students from Year 10 through to Sixth Form and parents are encouraged to attend with their daughters. Friends from other local schools and colleges are also welcome to attend but must be registered.
We expect this to be a very popular talk and therefore seats must be reserved with the Development Team in advance.
