Manchester High School for Girls

Over 75 mums, guardians and members of the alumnae community joined us to mark the start of the festive season at our annual Ladies’ Lunch. The sold out event was held in the magnificent surroundings of the King Street Townhouse on Thursday 23rd November.

The ladies enjoyed a welcome glass of prosecco on the heated South Terrace overlooking the Town Hall and the rooftops of Manchester, before sitting down to a delicious two-course meal.

The job of hosting the event went to the first female helicopter pilot in the British Army and extreme cake maker extraordinaire, our special guest, Rose Dummer. The former pupil of Manchester High School for Girls regaled us with tales of just about being able to see over the windscreen of her first helicopter, how it feels to break down with a life size grenadier soldier cake in the boot, and her journey from MHSG to being Rosie Cake Diva today.

The lively lunch was rounded off with a raffle that raised over £400 for the Never Over100ked Bursary Appeal. Fabulous items were up for grabs; from a festive flower arrangement to an afternoon tea for two at King Street Townhouse,

Former pupil, Lynne Webster, commented:

“I hadn’t been back to school in over 40 years, and now I’ve been back twice in two months! What a wonderful event; it was great to get to know some of the alumnae and parent community at my old school. You’ll definitely be seeing me again!”

As we enjoy the festive round up of 2017, we’re already looking forward to the year ahead and we would love to see more of our alumnae and parent community coming together at the new events we have coming up in 2018, such as the Bottomless Brunch at Neighbourhood on Saturday 3rd March.

Be sure to take a look at all of our events, details of which can be found here.
