STAFF AND STUDENTS TAKE ON THE GREAT MANCHESTER RUN CHALLENGE
A team of staff and International Baccalaureate students from Manchester High took on the Great Manchester Run challenge on Sunday 22nd May.
Their run was planned as part of the Creativity Activity Service (CAS) programme, the core of the IB Diploma, in which the Junior Sixth IB students must carry out a long term project with element of creativity, activity or service or a combination of these.
Girls as well as staff were in a celebratory mood on Monday, clearly very proud of their achievements! Caretaker Renee is rumoured to have run the fastest, finishing the race in just under an hour.
Earlier in the year the IB girls organised and took part in a 24hr badminton game in aid of a local food bank and collected non-perishable food. The active girls also took part in the Manchester 10K run in support of Genesis, the breast cancer charity.
Staff involved agreed to take part and offer a low level supervision for both events. So far the Justgiving page has collected £160, but donations are still coming in:
Congratulations to Katie, Anya, Ariadna, Jumoke and Kate in the Junior Sixth and Daisy in the Senior Sixth form (and, of course, staff) for their efforts!
