Life at Manchester High is enriched by a wide range of clubs, societies, and activities that encourage pupils to explore new interests, develop skills, and contribute to the school community. From outdoor adventures to academic enrichment, there is something to inspire every student.

Outdoor Pursuits

Spending time in nature offers a wealth of benefits, and our pupils have regular opportunities to take part in residential trips every year throughout their time at MHSG. this includes visits to the Lake District, while older pupils can work towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

We offer Bronze, Silver, and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards, giving pupils the chance to develop confidence, resilience, and leadership. Participants take part in a wide range of activities, from volunteering and skills development to physical challenges and expeditions, building friendships and memories that last a lifetime.

Enterprise & Ingenuity

Our pupils are encouraged to think creatively and act with confidence. Clubs such as Young Enterprise, language groups, and specialist subject societies provide opportunities to develop innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Young Enterprise (Sixth Form)
Students form and run their own company for an academic year, taking on roles from finance to marketing. They pitch to shareholders, produce annual reports, and compete in regional competitions — gaining real-world business experience alongside essential personal skills.

Young Enterprise

Social Responsibility

We aim to nurture a strong sense of responsibility, generosity, and global citizenship. Many clubs promote community engagement and social awareness, empowering pupils to make a positive difference locally and globally.

Model United Nations (MUN)

From Year 9 onwards, pupils can represent countries in simulated UN debates, research global issues, and develop public speaking skills. The MUN club meets weekly and attends regional and international conferences. MHSG also hosts its own annual MUN conference, attracting over 300 delegates from the UK and beyond.
