Learning Beyond the Classroom
From fieldwork and gallery visits to cultural exchanges and international tours, our trips and excursions broaden horizons, spark curiosity and create lasting memories. Every journey, whether local or global, enriches learning and strengthens connection.
At Manchester High School for Girls, trips are an important part of learning. They give pupils the chance to see their subjects in context, explore new places and gain first-hand experiences that support their studies.
Departments run a wide range of visits throughout the year, from local day trips to international residentials. Each trip is planned to enhance the curriculum, develop independence and encourage curiosity. Examples of recent Senior School and Sixth Form residential trips:
- Modern Foreign Languages – Paris, Málaga and Munich
- Geography – Iceland (Year 10 – Sixth Form)
- Economics – Disneyland Paris or London (A-level)
- Art – London galleries (Year 10 – Sixth Form)
- English – Creative Writing residential in North Wales
- Duke of Edinburgh Award – expeditions and challenges (Senior School and Sixth Form)
- Drama & English – theatre trips to London and New York
- Music – international tours, including Salzburg
- PE/Sports – tours to Holland and South Africa
- Classics – Rome
Trips like these are an established part of school life, offering pupils opportunities to apply their learning, gain new perspectives and work together outside the classroom.
