Moving from Senior to Sixth Form

During Years 10 and 11, students receive extensive guidance on their options for Sixth Form, and we hope that as many girls as possible will transition from GCSEs to A-levels at Manchester High.

Moving Up to Sixth Form

All Year 11s meet with the Head Mistress to discuss their progress and future plans, as well as members of the Careers team. Students also have the opportunity to interact with current sixth formers at subject fairs and other events.

However, we do expect students to achieve at least five grade 7s in their GCSEs, including in the subjects they wish to take for A-level, in order to move into our Sixth Form.

All Year 11s are given bridging work to complete over the summer after their GCSE exams, in order to best prepare them for the move into the challenges of A-level study.
