Manchester High School for Girls

Curriculum

Sixth Form Curriculum

Sixth Form students are offered a choice of A-level subjects which reflect their ambitions and aptitude. Guidance on an appropriate programme of study will be given to each student by Senior and Careers staff, along with subject teachers. Advice will be based on the ability, recent performance and career aspirations of individual students. The Sixth Form pool structure at Manchester High is designed to accommodate student choice and is therefore very flexible, offering most combinations of subjects.

A-levels

How many subjects do students take in Sixth Form?

At least four in the Junior Sixth (some girls do take five) and at least three subjects in the Senior Sixth (some take four).

At the end of the Junior Sixth year our students take internal examinations in all their subjects.

Extra-curricular

Extra-curricular opportunities are an extremely important feature of life at Manchester High which continue into the Sixth Form.
