Manchester High School for Girls

Futures and Careers

We are enormously grateful to the increasing number of former pupils who are willing to help us provide careers support to current pupils, as well as those that are starting out in the workplace.

If you would like to get involved as a speaker, mentor, or provider of a work experience placement, please contact us.

We are committed to ensuring that Manchester High girls are aware of the breadth of opportunities available to them and feel supported as they pursue excellence within their chosen fields.

Project Pankhurst

This scheme is designed to help Sixth Form girls prepare for the world beyond academia. It is a forward-looking initiative and not just about getting students on their university course of choice. The scheme enables girls to make a connection with a former pupil who will support them as they make decisions about their professional development in the broadest sense.

"The girls are often asked what they want to be when they finish university. While a number have a clear idea about the path they want to take, others are still weighing up a world of possibilities and it's important that the girls understand both of these stages are just fine! The mentoring scheme is there to give our girls and steer and help them make the right choices for them." - Mrs Norton, Director of Sixth Form Studies

Insight Into Talks

Since the launch of our 'Insight Into' series of twilight talks, MHSG pupils and their parents have been lucky enough to listen to and be inspired by a range of alumnae who have returned to school to share their story. Previous talks have included a variety of career paths such as engineering, make-up artistry, law, finance and politics.

As we develop these talks we are always looking for speakers to come and share their experience and knowledge with our girls, so please do get in touch if you feel able to help us in our mission to uphold the Pankhurst legacy of women supporting each other.
