"I had secured a place to study Politics and Social Policy at the University of Edinburgh post A-level but, through the Manchester High ‘Futures’ programme, heard about apprenticeship opportunities at the BBC.
The schemes are highly-regarded by journalists worldwide and competition for places is fierce. I beat over 3,000 applicants to obtain my place. Manchester High nurtured my broad range of interests, from youth politics to stand-up comedy, and this certainly helped set me apart when it came to the application process.
The teachers at Manchester High absolutely recognise we live in a changing world in which there are many routes to success. The school undoubtedly gave me the courage to pursue the path that was right for me."
