Manchester High School for Girls

Appointment of next Head Mistress of MHSG

After an extensive search and recruitment process, the Governors have appointed Mrs Helen Jeys as the 11th Head Mistress of Manchester High School for Girls.

Mrs Helen Jeys

Mrs Hewitt remains in post for the 2019/2020 academic year with Mrs Jeys taking over from 1st September 2020.

Mrs Jeys is passionate about equipping girls, via a broad and balanced education, with the skills to cope with the challenges of the modern world. She is a graduate of Durham University, where she read Religion and Philosophy. Mrs Jeys already has leadership experience in the independent sector and is currently Head of Alderley Edge School for Girls.  Many of you will be aware that she previously worked at MHSG in a variety of roles including Deputy Head (Pastoral) and Head of Religion and Philosophy.

Manchester High School for Girls is a highly successful, forward-thinking school with incredibly inspiring pupils. Supportive members of staff, governors and an active alumnae community all work together to empower pupils on their journey to becoming fulfilled, balanced and self-determined individuals. The Governors are certain that Mrs Jeys will build on this ethos while developing the School so that it continues to provide a stand-out educational experience.

A number of people may know Mrs Jeys from her previous tenure at Manchester High, but over the coming months the Governors will be taking every opportunity to introduce her to members of the school community, ensuring the transition is as smooth as possible.

We look forward to welcoming Mrs Jeys back to MHSG as she looks to build on the tremendous success achieved by Mrs Hewitt.
