Manchester High School for Girls

Prep Choir perform at Carols in the City

Members of the Preparatory Department Choir made the short trip to Manchester Cathedral on Thursday 12th December to raise money for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity.

Carols in the City is one of the highlights of Manchester’s festive season and is attended by politicians, local dignitaries and celebrities. The Prep Choir have performed at the event for many years, and featured alongside Little Belters and The Thursday Singers, a group featuring pupils from Manchester High, Withington Girls School, and The Manchester Grammar School. Their performances of Run Rudolph Run and My Favourite Time of Year were incredibly well-received by the audience in the sold out Cathedral.

Mrs Heggie, Music Teacher in the Preparatory Department, who conducted the choir, commented: “This event is always the highlight of the festive season for me. The girls always raise their game and this year’s concert was no different, they gave a wonderful performance of a difficult piece. I’m very proud of them for their ongoing hard work and dedication to their singing. Thank you girls!”
