The Performing Arts thrive at Manchester High School for Girls and the Drama department provides girls with excellent opportunities to develop their interest in acting, directing and technical skills.
Our Drama teachers are inspirational and experienced, and we believe the study of drama promotes social, presentation and communication skills as well as engendering a lifelong love of the Arts and the stage.
The standard of academic and co-curricular drama productions at MHSG is exceptional and students’ talents are wonderfully showcased in both our Main Hall and well-equipped Drama Studio. Our Drama department is renowned for its standard of excellence at GCSE and A-level.
All students are provided with a wide range of opportunities to visit local and national professional theatres which enhance their knowledge of performance and design skills.
An annual whole school production is staged in the autumn term, including girls from Year 7 to Year 13. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to sing, dance and act, while working as team. We also offer a range of other performing opportunities throughout the year, including a Cabaret evening, lower school drama showcase, Drama Club productions and Senior and Junior Performing Arts evenings.
In addition to curricular and extra-curricular Drama, we offer LAMDA Speech and Drama lessons for individuals, duos and groups. These are extremely popular with girls from Year 2 right up to Year 13.
