We are delighted that you are thinking of joining MHSG Pre-School and/or Preparatory School.

From a first step into our Pre-School class to the move into Senior School, our Prep is where girls experience many firsts, from discoveries and challenges to achievements they will remember for a lifetime. In a supportive and inspiring environment, each child develops her strengths, grows in confidence and builds a love of learning that will carry her forward.

Our first point of entry is our Pre-School class (aged 3+) and we welcome girls into our Preparatory School at any point from Pre-School to Year 6, depending on availability.

Assessment

Once we have received your completed application, your daughter will be invited to visit our Preparatory School to take part in assessments.

Pre-School (age 3+)

You and your daughter will be invited to visit our Pre-School to meet and have an informal conversation with our staff. There is no need for your child to undergo any preparation before your visit.

Reception Assessment (age 4+)
Girls are invited to school for a friendly, informal assessment. This includes one-to-one activities with a teacher and small group play to ensure your daughter will thrive in our environment.
There is no need for your child to undergo any preparation before their visit.

Year 1 & 2 entry
Girls usually spend time in class with other girls and complete basic assessments in English and Mathematics. We also request a reference from your daughter’s current Head Teacher.

Offers and Preparing to Join MHSG

Pre-School (age 3+)

Places will be confirmed with parents as soon as possible after the informal meeting.

Reception to Year 6 (ages 4-11)

The outcome of the assessment will be shared with parents as soon as possible, confirming whether or not a place has been offered.

Offers should be accepted within the stated deadlines to avoid losing your place.

Once a place has been accepted, we will provide an information pack to help you prepare to join the MHSG Preparatory School. We will also email you with details of events for you and your daughter to attend to help you become familiar with her fellow learners, teachers and the school site.
