Below you will find details of tuition fees, lunch charges, wrap-around care, bursaries and scholarships for the 2025/26 academic year. All fees are inclusive of VAT.

Reception Class:  MHSG offer 15 hours free entitlement for academic year 2025/2026.  Deductions are made from the school fees each term until the child turns five years old.

After School Club – 2025

Available up to Year 6.

  • Early session (up to 4.35pm): £6.55
  • Late session (up to 6.00pm): £13.10
  • Late collection after 6.00pm: £15 per 15 minutes per pupil (minimum charge)

Pupils must be collected before 6.00pm.

Note: Pupils are to be collected before 6pm. Parents of pupils collected after this time will be charged £15 per 15 mins per pupil.

Instrumental, Speech and Drama Lessons

Optional individual or group lessons in instrumental music and speech and drama are available at an additional cost, charged per term. Details are sent to parents before a pupil joins the school.

Bursaries and Scholarships

Manchester High School for Girls is committed to making our education accessible to academically gifted students, regardless of financial circumstances.

Bursaries

  • Available for pupils joining Year 7 and Year 12
  • All bursaries are means tested and linked to family income
  • Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need
  • Award values vary; some part and full bursaries available
  • Uniform grant of up to £420 available in the first year for bursary recipients
  • Annual re-evaluation to reflect any changes in circumstances

Application process:

  • Indicate on the registration form that you wish to apply
  • Submit all required documentation by the specified deadline
  • Late applications will not be considered
  • Some applicants may receive a home or virtual visit as part of the assessment process
  • Successful applicants are notified when offer letters are issued

Possible additional support:

  • Travel grant for pupils in receipt of a bursary who live a considerable distance from school (written request required annually)

Scholarships

Academic Scholarships

  • Awarded for excellence in the Year 7 entrance examination
  • Competitive and based on exceptional academic potential

Music, Drama, Sport and Dance Scholarships

  • Applicants indicate interest on the registration form
  • Music: Minimum ABRSM Grade 4 or equivalent; audition may include performance on two instruments (or one plus voice), sight-reading and aural tests
  • Drama: Audition will including performance of two prepared monologues
  • Sport and Dance: Assessment against peers; written recommendation required from a coach or dance teacher, plus copies of awards/certificates

Value: Scholarships generally cover a percentage of fees (up to 50% maximum, most are less). In the case of Drama scholarships, LAMDA lessons while at MHSG will be provided, free of charge.

Joint Scholarship and Bursary Awards:

  • A pupil may receive both, but the total award will not exceed full fees.

Please note: Financial assistance is not available for pupils in the Preparatory School.
