Manchester High School for Girls

Part-time Peripatetic Harp Teacher

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic harp teacher on a self-employed basis to join our Music Department.

The successful candidate will be required to provide individual lessons on a one-to-one basis to students in our Preparatory and Senior departments. The students at Manchester High School for Girls learn instruments for many reasons; some aspire to be professional musicians, whilst for others it is a diversion from other pressures. We are primarily looking for a teacher who will instil a lifelong enjoyment of music making, whilst maintaining the highest levels of ambition for each of their pupils.  An ability to teach all age and ability is important.  Excellent communication, planning and delivery is essential to this role, and above all else we want to recruit someone with a passion for teaching children and inspiring the next generation to love music.

At the moment we have relatively low numbers of harp students, but there is significant potential for growth across both schools and the Music department is very open-minded about how this can be achieved.  If you would like further information about the position please contact the Music Department at:

Closing Date: 9:00am on 21st June with interviews taking place later that week.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. Registered charity number 1164323. Company number 9665070.

Candidates should apply by submitting a fully completed application form and supporting letter addressed to the Head Mistress to
