Core Values

One of our core values is Individuality. We believe that true belonging comes from recognising and respecting our differences, and empowering pupils to learn from one another, celebrate identity, and lead with empathy and understanding.

Pupil Leadership

Congratulations to our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Captains for 2025–26:
Lola, Lily, Raheeg, Eshal, Suha, Ayo, Tabi, Hana, Zahra.

These pupils are leading the way in promoting inclusion across school. They have introduced themselves to the wider student body in assembly and shared what drives their passion for this important role.

Working across year groups, their role includes:

  • Leading and delivering DEI events and campaigns
  • Facilitating discussions and student feedback
  • Attending form DEI forums
  • Helping shape the school’s approach to DEI from a student perspective

DEI Charter

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Charter was developed collaboratively with pupils, staff and alumnae. It sets out our shared commitment to inclusion, representation and respect.

Everyone is happy with difference, we are just allowed to be ourselves, there’s no pressure to fit into one box.

Alumnae DEI Committee

Our DEI work extends beyond the classroom. The Alumnae Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee brings together former pupils, former staff and friends of the school to discuss key issues and share experiences.

These meetings are held online via Microsoft Teams. To take part, please email development@mhsg.manchester.sch.uk

Celebrating Across the School

Throughout the year, MHSG marks a wide range of cultural, historical and religious events with assemblies, workshops and celebrations led by pupils and staff.

Some of our recent highlights include:

  • Black History Month assemblies and our Black History Heroes competition
  • Lunar New Year celebrations
  • Eid, Diwali and Purim festivities
  • International Women’s Day
  • Pride and LGBTQ+ History Month
  • Individuality Week, featuring speakers on disability, allyship and intersectionality

Our DEI Captains play a leading role in shaping and delivering these events, encouraging meaningful conversations and community-wide engagement.

Respecting all is central to the school’s values and we certainly got the sense that this is true.

Living Our Values

Inclusion is not a standalone initiative at MHSG – it is woven into the fabric of school life. Through our curriculum, form discussions, leadership opportunities and wider community events, we empower pupils to explore identity, challenge discrimination and celebrate difference.

We know that when every girl feels seen and supported, she can achieve her full potential.
