The Senior School
The Individual and the School Community

Getting to know one another in Yr 7

Your daughter will be valued and respected as an individual, benefiting from the support of a highly effective pastoral team whose members work very closely together to protect the well-being of each girl in the School.

From the moment of her arrival, your daughter will be cared for by her Form Tutor, her Head of Year and the Deputy Head who ensure that there is a high level of pastoral care at all times. Our full-time Nursing Sister also makes a significant contribution to providing a safe, supportive environment.

We are committed to encouraging maturity, independence and a sense of responsibility in our girls. Early in the autumn term of her first year, your daughter will participate with the rest of her year group in a residential visit to an activity centre. This exciting learning experience helps to foster friendship amongst the girls who are all new to the Senior School.

We expect each girl to show a concern for the welfare of others, both within the school and the wider community. Your daughter will have a wide range of opportunities to raise funds for local, national and global charities.

As your daughter progresses through the School, she will be able to take on increasing responsibility, participating, if she wishes, in mentoring schemes such as Big Sister which provides help and advice for junior girls

Your daughter will be given a clear understanding of the principles which govern the school's discipline code which appears in the parent handbook. Our rules are designed to provide a secure, civilised and happy environment for every member of the school.

Manchester High is a multi-cultural school embracing many faiths. Approximately once a week girls attend an assembly of their choice, organised by sixth form students. These include Christian, Hindu and Sikh, Humanist, Jewish, Muslim and Secular assemblies. A room is also made available for Buddhists for a period of meditation.
