World Book Day

World Book Day was widely celebrated at MHSG with School Librarian, Miss Zoe Hawker, deciding to put the emphasis on fun and reading. With the help of Assistant Librarian, Dr Christine Joy, the duo organised; a Lucky Dip Book Bin, a Grand Prize Draw and a Poster Competition.

The libraries were packed all day with keen readers and book borrowing was almost double the usual daily rate!

For every library book borrowed on World Book Day, a raffle ticket was handed out for the Lucky Dip Bin.  All the tickets were entered into a draw and the chosen lucky winners were, Jemma Becker (10M) and Natalia Ali (7S). The girls each received a copy of a signed book from a varied selection.

Finally, a competition to design a poster to promote reading was launched. Saiba Ghafoor (8G) was the overall winner with a beautifully hand-drawn poster. She received art materials and will also get to see her poster framed and printed onto postcards.
