| Where Are They Now?
I went to Stand College to undertake an A-Level in Theatre Studies; a subject that was unavailable at MHSG at the time. I then gained parts in several TV shows that included Children’s Ward, Coronation Street and Heartbeat.
I gained a first class honours degree in Journalism and Broadcasting at Salford University. I was then lucky enough to travel to London and take up my first job as Entertainment Reporter for Independent Radio News, which broadcasts news across over 300 commercial radio stations in UK and Ireland.
I spent my first day interviewing Cher which was quite daunting, but after a few months I was at ease chatting to stars like Jude Law and the Spice Girls, as well as attending the latest film premières.
Despite the lure of the celebrity life, the North West beckoned me back and I returned to take up radio positions at Wire FM, Silk FM and Key 103.
In 2007, I was selected as one of the launch team for Channel M’s Breakfast Show, bringing traffic and travel reports, weather and showbiz information into the homes of people across the country from 6am until 9am each weekday.
It is hard work getting up at 3am for the show but it is worth it. I love being involved in a show about my home town of Manchester and, as it is broadcast live, it comes with the buzz of having to be prepared for anything that might happen.
I recently attended one of MHSG’s Tea and Tour events for former pupils of the School. It was great to go back and reminisce over the great times I had there. It had been 15 years since I had seen the school and it was fantastic to see the developments that have been made. |
