Trio Qualify for Olympiad

Three MHSG students, Ruth Franklin, Claire Greenhalgh and Airui Zhang, qualified for the first round of the 2008 British Mathematical Olympiad.

The trio, together with Sixth Former Natalie Haley, each received a gold award having entered the UKMT Maths Challenge, a competition for students aged 16-19 who are studying mathematics prior to university.

Over 600,000 students enter the competition from across the UK and are tested on their reasoning skills and mental agility.

As well as the four gold awards, MHSG students also recorded 12 silver and 32 bronze awards.
