A total of 70 MHSG students participated in the Junior Mathematical Challenge, with 16 of our girls winning gold awards. This ranks them within the top 6% of junior mathematicians across the UK.
Alice McGregor (Year 8) and Kirsten McAslan (Year 9) did well enough to progress on to the Junior Mathematical Olympiad, with Alice (pictured) finishing in the top 25%.
Meanwhile, Year 11 students Ruth Franklin and Claire Greenhalgh were among 1600 students from across the UK that competed in the Intermediate Mathematical Olympiad.
Claire performed well and received a certificate of merit, while Ruth emerged with a distinction having only dropped one mark. The result confirms her position as one of the best young mathematicians in the country. |
