Where Are They Now?
Juliet Blank Class of '97

A pupil at MHSG for 14 years, Juliet left school with A Levels in French, German and English Language and embarked on a French and Italian Degree at University College, London University. Although a passion for magazines sparked a desire to become a journalist from an early age, Juliet was advised to study languages at university by her German teacher, Mrs Hobson ; advice she values to this day.

Whilst at UCL Juliet started forming contacts at major publishing houses by filling long summer holidays with placements on national newspapers and magazines.

But it was her year abroad, the compulsory third year of a four year languages degree - that helped to secure a placement on ELLE magazine once she graduated. Juliet spent her year abroad studying - and shopping - in Paris and Rome, which meant she had valuable experience for helping with fashion and shopping guides on the magazine.

After a year on ELLE's Features desk it was a case of being in the right place at the right time, as well as sheer determination, when a job at Closer magazine came up.

Joining the launch of a brand new magazine three years ago was 'a dream come true' and Juliet has since climbed the ranks to become Deputy Lifestyle Editor of what is now the third biggest selling 'celeb-weekly' in the UK. As she says, 'working on a celebrity title ensures there's never a dull moment.'
