Manchester High School for Girls is celebrating its best GCSE results to date; a staggering 88% of grades achieved were A*’s or A’s, with over half awarded at the top A* grade.
More than 75% of the School’s 107 candidates attained either grade A* or A in at least eight of their chosen subjects (the majority of students studied 9.5 GCSEs), and 60% of its GCSE students attained either a grade A* or A in all of their examinations.
Head Mistress, Mrs Claire Hewitt, said: “I am thrilled for the girls and very proud of their outstanding achievements. They thoroughly deserve this success which is the culmination of both their hard work and that of their teachers.
At MHSG, we are committed to ensuring that each girl achieves her very best and fulfils her potential. We do this by not only supporting students in their academic studies, but also encouraging them to continue with their participation in a wide range of extra-curricular activities including sport, drama, music and charity work.
In September, these girls will begin the next step on their journey to being tomorrow’s successful women. I very much look forward to welcoming them back into our Sixth Form for either their A Level or International Baccalaureate (IB) studies.”
