Year 3 girls enjoyed a visit to the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) in Manchester. The trip was part of their Science topic on Materials.

Students attended a session in a specially designed science classroom where they learnt all about materials from a member of the museum’s education team. The lesson involved a quick talk and demonstration followed by activities. The girls were able to examine the different sizes of particles under a microscope, investigate different plastics, sort soil particles and classify rocks while identifying their uses. They were also able to class metals using special diagrams.

Following lunch, pupils investigated the Experiment Zone which is the largest interactive gallery of exhibits at MOSI. This was a very popular activity and the girls could lift a car using gears, power a water wheel, simulate sounds and much more!
