Head Mistress's Archives Speak Volumes

Head Mistress, Mrs Christine Lee-Jones, has built up a lot of memories during her past 10 years at MHSG.

Visits by the Princess Royal and Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes and a reception for the School at the House of Commons are just some of the highlights of the past decade.

The 26-volume collection of personal mementoes - which stands 33-and-a-half inches high and weighs seven-and-a-half stones - includes greetings cards, photographs, letters, tickets and programmes.

Mrs Lee-Jones said: “When I started the archive, I had no idea that it would grow into such an immense number of books. Occasionally I do get one out from a previous year – it is a lovely way of remembering a particular event or occasion.”

Of her retirement from the School at the end of December, Mrs Lee-Jones added: “I think I am most proud of the girls. They are my pride and joy and I am going to miss them terribly.”
