For the first time in the School’s history, pupils voyaged across the Atlantic to Washington, and witnessed the razzmatazz of America in an election year.
During the packed five-day trip the History students saw the National Archives, visited the Holocaust Memorial Museum and the world’s largest interactive museum ‘Newseum’. They also viewed the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial and the Vietnam War Memorial. For the girls, one of the trip highlights was going behind the scenes at the Capitol, the heart of the American administration.

History teacher, Mrs Heydecker, commented: “Taking students to Washington during election year has given them a real sense of what the capital is like in terms of its history, politics and culture. When we announced the trip there was a lot of excitement and I think that was because pupils were very knowledgeable and aware of the media frenzy surrounding the elections.”
