Biology students visited Ainsdale Sand Dunes to learn about the exposed ecosystem first-hand.

Pupils were able to see for themselves how nature can start with bare flat sand, colonise it, eliminate the salt, stabilise it and then build up the soil and nutrients so that a wide variety of plants and animals can live and grow there.
