Aspiring young chemists: Varsha Samuel, Fatimah Suliman, Grace Huffer and Nell Brown (pictured left to right) entered the Salter’s Festival of Chemistry and took part in two laboratory based exercises.
The first was a Forensic Science challenge involving a number of chemical tests. The second involved the girls using the speed of a chemical reaction to time the boiling of an egg.
Students impressed the judges with their high level of knowledge and showed excellent teamwork skills. They were rewarded with a fun demonstration lecture called ‘Chemical Magic’, which involved lots of flashes and bangs. |
