Essential Life Skills Learnt

Year 8 pupils have been trying their hand at the ‘Real Game’ during a Life Skills lesson. The game is a classroom based programme developed to help students learn about opportunities and responsibilities of adult life in a fun and interactive way.

The first part of the programme invites girls to populate a ‘Dream Cloud’, detailing all the material things they desire. This is followed by a swift reality check as students select a career and establish which skills and qualifications they would need to obtain to take up this role. They are then informed of the salary, average outgoings and what they would actually be able to afford to buy in terms of luxuries!

Sophie Goodman (pictured right) said: “I found the whole experience both entertaining and serious at the same time. I now have a better understanding of real life issues and how important it is to make the most of your school years!”
